Renewing outdated aspects of the Nursery website
Recently, our company received a common feedback from Satokyoku Nursery School, “We found a significant increase in families with children looking at our company website recently”.
Many families will instinctively look up details of nursery schools online.
They may search for a variety of nurseries, comparing their facilities, staff, price, etc.
If the website is outdated, the potential conversion rate of these visitors into inquiry will become lower.
During our meeting, we discussed 3 aspects for the Satokyoku Nursery website that we could renew.
Use of outdated Flash elements
In the past, using Flash for websites was a way to increase appeal by adding moving elements. However since it’s support terminated in 2020, it is now no longer compatible with modern browsers.
(This is what a website with Flash will look like).
SSL not applied
The website did not have an SSL applied to their server prior to the renewal.
SSL is for encrypting communication information on the Internet; if SSL is not supported, visitors may be shown a notification that the site is unprotected. The website may even be blocked on some networks and platforms, making it impossible to view the website.
Not using owned domain
Prior to the renewal, the website was not under its own domain. It contained a prefix URL that it shares with many other companies and websites of other unrelated companies.
To fix this, we asked for the client to obtain an owned domain. Then, we proceeded with data transfer to the new URL.
And so, our team began the website renewal based on these three factors:
- The site uses outdated Flash, so there are parts that cannot be viewed.
- Not SSL-compatible, so secure communication is not guaranteed.
- The website is not under its own domain name and lacks reliability.
Specialising in smartphone design while keeping costs down with a template design.
The following are the production packs we have applied for.
- Use of a template design.
- Easy-to-update functionality
- Responsive design for smartphones and tablets
- Always SSL compatible
We proposed a template design course, partly to keep renewal costs down.
The decision was made to produce the website with CHACO-WEB, partly because all the areas that needed to be renewed could be eliminated.
- Smartphone menu PLUS
As many parents who visit the nursery’s website use smartphones, an option to focus on the smartphone menu design was also requested in conjunction with the website.
Testimonials and messages from CHACO-WEB
Q. What did you notice or think about the preparation of the material, the interaction with our staff and the finished product?
A. The production period was just right, as I was working in parallel with another administrative task.
The website is now clean and easy to read.
It was good that the person in charge of the website went through a number of meetings and revisions and listened to what we wanted.
Q. How do you want to utilise the website in the future?
A. The childcare system itself changes over a span of five to six years, so we are thinking about updating our website in response to this.
Q. Do you have any other messages for those in charge throughout the entire production process?
A. We found that an overwhelming number of families come to our website after looking at it on their smartphones in advance when they want to visit the school.
In this day and age, it is very difficult to arrange a tour of the school building as it is strictly forbidden for anyone other than parents to enter, but we have received more than three times the number of enquiries than before.
Thank you very much for your patience when we asked you to revise the website.
We look forward to working with you again when we update the website.
Message from CHACO-WEB
Thank you very much for the many meetings we had with you by phone and email while you were busy working at the nursery.
We’re also pleased to hear that your enquiries have more than tripled compared to before! Please feel free to contact us if you encounter any problems with updating or website management.
